WLW – Holiday “Milk” Shakes

Today’s topic for Weight Loss Wednesday is dusting yourself off after “cheating” on your diet.
I admit – I ate way too much chocolate for Halloween.
There is just something about Halloween that just compelled me to eat the candy. Chocolate candy to be exact. Chocolate with caramel, chocolate with nougat, chocolate with cookies, chocolate with chocolate!
Yes, I beat myself up a bit over the “cheating”. I told myself it was just for one night and then no more, but it’s in the house and I had 3 mini candy bars on Monday night…. Sigh…

    I’m only human.

For me, it’s all about one meal at a time. For Breakfast I’m going to have a healthy smoothie. For lunch I’m going to have a protein rich veggies and sausage omelet. To complete my day, roasted mixed veggies, a small salad and some chicken or steak. I have it all planned out.
But somehow, junk food still pops into my mouth. I was really good on my trip to California over the weekend. My gate in San Francisco was right across the Ghirardelli shop and as tempted as I was to get something, I had a banana and a salad. We went to In N’ Out Burgers and I had a Protein Burger (No bun).
So, just by taking one day and one meal at a time, I’m getting back into a routine of no junk food. I’ve just got to do it if I want to succeed.

I see my husband and daughter eat a sweet and I really want to join them. We are getting into the Hot Chocolate Season and I know there will be temptation to have a calorie and sugar dense cup of cocoa.
I offer these as alternatives – So Delicious Mint Chocolate Coconut Milk and Pumpkin Spice Coconut Milk. Now,I’m not gonna lie to you, both of these have sugar as the second ingredient. The mint chocolate has 7 carbs in a half cup and the pumpkin spice has 15 carbs in a half cup. Neither one is labeled or sold as “diet food”, I’m simply offering it as an alternative to traditional hot chocolate made with milk, sugar and chocolate, i.e., sugar milk, sugar and chocolate sugar. However, when you add the 27 grams of protein in the CytoSport Whey Protein, it becomes a meal replacement and it sure did satisfy my sweet tooth.
