    Easy Fig Tarts

Everyone is back to school and time is precious again. There’s only so many hours in a day and when you work and the kids have homework then there’s the dinner to make and lunches to prepare for the next day. If you’re looking for a dessert that’s quick and easy, not too sweet and pretty to serve, take a look at these easy Fig Tarts.

Made with easy puff pastry, a dollop of cream cheese, fresh figs, and a sprinkle of sugar. It’s a quick dessert that you and the family can enjoy.

Beautiful Figs ready to be eaten for a yummy, healthy snack.

I loved how easy it was to make these great tarts. Fresh figs are amazing and it’s a shame that they are only in season for a short time. If you can’t find figs, you can swap out a lot of different fruits into these tarts.

I’ve also just baked up the puff pastry shells and filled them with pudding and fresh fruit. Puff Pastry is so versatile and delicious – I don’t know why I don’t bake with it more often.

These little tarts aren’t particularly sweet. To keep it simple I didn’t add any sugar to the cream cheese and instead chose to add a bit of honey to the top of the cooked figs. There is the little bit of Turbinado sugar around the edges, but that’s really there for color, caramelization, and to make it look pretty and fancy.

    1. Tarts are always in my list of favourite foods, and I love figs as well because of their health benefits. It surprised me that we can combine them. Gonna give it a try. Thanks for sharing!

      1. Thanks for the comment. I went back to review the post and agree that the description of folding the puff pastry was lacking. I’ve updated the recipe card it it’s a bit clearer. For a video, you can check out Tasty/ They have the same shape in their tart. Hope that helps.

    2. Thanks Karyn for your timely response and explanation. I never would have guessed…not that much of a baker, obviously. But these I think I can do. Have some lovely figs from my tree and this will do them justice!

      1. You will have square shapes. You’ll cut the left like this ↱ and the right side like ↲. Don’t cut all the way to the corners. These are two flaps that you will then pull up and over to the opposite corner. So, upper left cut corner goes to the lower right INSIDE corner and the bottom right cut piece will go up to the left corner. You are creating a little wall for the filling to sit inside. I hope that helps.
