This weeks topic for Weight Loss Wednesday is Hydration. How much water do you drink a day?? Odds are, if you’re anything like me, it’s not enough.
I knew this post was coming up so I did some homework to find out how much water I should be drinking to help me lose weight. (There are several calculators out there if you search for them.)
I figured I should be drinking anywhere from 85 to 120 ounces of water a day. A. DAY!
So, for the weekend through Tuesday, I kept refilling my 18oz. water cup. And I lost count of how many times I went to the bathroom… I woke up every night around 4 am (worst side effect ever!) I logged my water into FitBit and I still didn’t get all of the water into me.
It’s really tough to drink 100 ounces of water! I was just grateful that I was at home most of the time and didn’t have to worry about where the closest restroom was all the time.
I know that it takes time to build up the routine of drinking water and maybe I was overeager to drink it ALL. I do know that I drink a lot more water in the summer than in the winter. I’ve noticed nighttime leg cramps, headache, and more hunger when I’m not drinking enough water.
Here’s what I learned in the past few days :
1 – I need to keep 2 cups of water by my bed in the morning AND drink it when I wake up!
2 – I need to drink 2 cups water while I cook lunch and dinner.
3 – I just need to accept that I’ll get up in the middle of the night 🙁
4 – I like my water flavored. I don’t like food coloring in my water.
My solution to number 4 is the “Simply Clear” water flavor from Wal-Mart. They have grape and strawberry-kiwi flavors and while they do have artificial sweetener, there are no food dyes. That works for me!
You know what else works for me? This dessert!!
My girlfriend made this Chocolate Whipped Cream dessert the other night. It wasn’t too sweet when I tried it alone, but it when I ate it with the fruit it was the perfect chocolate delivery system ever!
I’d love to invite these bloggers over to enjoy this sweet dessert with me and talk about life.
