Start Preparation- Stir the flour, walnuts, and salt together then cut in the shortening.I used two forks to blend the flour with the shortening, then used my fingers to blend them.
- Add a tablespoon of ice water and knead in. Add more ice water, a tablespoon at a time, until all the dough sticks together and forms a ball.
- Roll into a disk and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- Add some flour to your work surface and roll out the dough then transfer it to the pie pan. Roll the dough over the rolling pin and unroll it over the pie pan.
- Press and mold the crust into the pie pan and then use a fork to press the edges down.
- The dough can be refrigerated, wrapped up, for up to three days.
