Cream Filled Chocolate Donuts with Glaze

I got up and got moving this morning thanks to #MillstoneCoffee and Socialstars by Crowdtap.
Grab a Coffee and Donut in the morning and have a Great Day! #MillstoneCoffee
How do you get up and get going in the morning? Ideally, I’d wake up at 6 am, get an hour yoga session in followed by a hot shower and a yummy breakfast of eggs, bacon, and a big cup of coffee. I’d be fresh and ready to start my day knowing that I can conquer anything that comes my way.
In the real world, I never go to bed on time. I’m always up late blogging, catching up on social media, or just too invested in my book to turn the lights out at a decent hour. As a result, I end up hitting snooze too many times then rush around getting everyone ready for school.
There is no 6 am yoga, no hot shower, and no bacon and eggs, but there is always COFFEE!
The perfect pour of #MillstoneCoffee - How do you like your coffee?
Thank goodness for that fresh, hot cup of Millstone Coffee this morning! Sometimes I think it’s more about the coffee ritual that I enjoy. It used to be that the coffee grinder was my alarm clock, but last year we ditched the plug in maker for a manual pour over maker.

I have my favorite mug and my husband has his. I take my coffee with milk and sugar and he takes his black. On school mornings, we fill up our travel mugs to take on the road and enjoy while talking about current events, work, or planning our weekend.

Sometimes, if we are feeling especially lazy, we come back from school drop off, sit together and enjoy a second cup. It doesn’t happen often, but when it does, it’s a great moment.

So, how do you like your coffee? Millstone Coffee sent me their Dark Roast Mayan Black Onyx as well as their Medium Roast House Blend. Both full-bodied, gourmet coffees packed a great flavor profile, however, I preferred the House Blend personally. I found the aroma wonderful first thing in the morning, but my husband, who likes to proclaim himself a coffee connoisseur, liked the bold body of the Mayan Black Onyx.

So… Me being a dessert blogger and all… I just HAD to bake something to go with the coffee. And of course, that would be the donuts. The chocolatey goodness goes so well with the bold flavor of the Millstone coffee and the fact that they were cream-filled was a wonderful added bonus!Cream Filled Chocolate Donuts with Coffee Glaze. Wake up with #MillstoneCoffee and Fresh Donuts!

    Prep Time: 15 minutes

    Cook Time: 10 minutes

    Keywords: chocolate coffee donuts

    Ingredients

      For the Chocolate Donuts

      • 1 C flour
      • 1/2 C sugar
      • 1/4 C cocoa powder
      • 1/2 tea baking soda
      • 1 egg
      • 6 Tbsp sour cream
      • 1/4 C milk (could use 2 Tbsp milk and 2 Tbsp Coffee)
      • 1/4 C vegetable oil

      For the Cream Filling

      • 1/2 C butter
      • 1/4 C milk
      • 1 C powdered sugar

      For the Glaze

      • 1/2 – 2 C powdered sugar, depending on how thick you want your glaze
      • 3 Tbsp whole milk
      • 3 Tbsp Coffee

      Instructions

      Preheat the oven to 400℉.

Mix the dry ingredients in a large bowl. Mix the wet ingredients in a small bowl. Gradually add the dry into the wet and mix until combined.

Grease your donut pan and spoon the batter in. Bake for 10 minutes.

Remove and let cool in a wire rack.

      For the Cream Filling

Whip the butter, milk, and sugar until light and fluffy. You don’t want it super thick like frosting, just smooth and creamy.

Fill a donut injector with the cream and add it to the center of the donut. A little bit is all that’s required.

      For the Glaze

Place the coffee, milk and sugar into a small saucepan and whisk over low heat. Spoon the glaze over the donuts, allow the sugar to set up, then serve with your favorite cup of Millstone Coffee.
