Mardi Gras Push up Pops

Now that Valentine’s Day is over, it’s time to start thinking about Mardi Gras!! It’s time to PARTY for Fat Tuesday.
When I was in college, Fat Tuesday was all about drinking and indulging. That was a lifetime ago! Now that I’m a mom, there are no drinking parties. No lavish indulgences. And thank goodness, no more hangovers.

To tell ya the truth, I rarely drink anymore. It’s gotten pretty bad. Since I got pregnant in 2005, I haven’t been able to hold my liquor for anything. I’m good with a half a glass of wine now.  Heck, I had a shot of Limoncello that put me to sleep the other night. Total light weight!

These fun Mardi Gras Push-up Pops are more my speed – and my daughter’s speed.

She was thrilled when she saw them! She knew all about King Cakes and asked if there was a baby in one of them. I looked and looked for some little figures to put into these push-up pops.
That would have been so fun! To have a party with these for a bunch of kids and place a little plastic baby doll inside one.

To make these, simply take a vanilla cake, color one cup of batter green, one cup purple, and one cup yellow and bake them up.
Then use the push pop container to measure out the disks and layer them between frosting.
You can make your own frosting or add a little powdered sugar to canned frosting to thicken it up. Put it into a piping bag or baggie to add it neatly to the containers.
I dipped the tops in a mixture of sprinkles.

They were perfect and would be great for lunch boxes, after school snacks, and parties!
Enjoy!
