It’s the week of the 4th of July and the Dog Days of summer are upon us. It’s been in the 90s for the past few days in the Mid-Atlantic area, and I’m taking refuge in cool drinks and frozen treats. In fact, the heat index today was equivalent to the surface of Mars. How do you stay cool on these hot days?
Are you headed off to the pool or beach with the family or are you more of a hide in the basement until the sun goes down kinda person? I personally love the warm weather, but I do try to avoid the middle of the day when the sun is blazing. I made the mistake of trying to pull weeds at 2 pm the other day and nearly died. No thank you! I’ll be in the shade with a cold drink or getting the ice cream machine out for some homemade ice cream! It’s hot summer, cool treats to the rescue!
Hot Summer Cool Treats
Whether you love hot summer days or would rather sit in the shade with something refreshing, these cool summer treats are sure to be a hit.
Start summer off with a frozen coffee cream pie! The pie is made with a homemade cold brew coffee pudding, cream cheese, and homemade whipped cream! It’s a great pie to make ahead and then partially thaw and serve later!
You can switch up the fruits that you use in these popsicles – add a higher proportion of strawberries or add a kiwi or some raspberries for a different flavor. The possibilities are endless! I love the lightness (and the flavor) of watermelon and so these will be perfect for a light popsicle snack on hot days.
This bubble gum ice cream recipe is super simple! Whipping cream, sweetened condensed milk, bubble gum flavoring (optional), and bubble gum pieces! A sweet treat just like the one served at our favorite little ice cream shop in town.
This amazing watermelon coconut rum punch is the quintessential summer cocktail! Made with fresh watermelon and coconut rum, this simple rum punch cocktail comes together in moments. Perfect for sipping poolside or serving at your next summer soiree!
